Chicago's Red Hot Blues Royalty in New York City to Salute Women of The Blues

Chicago -- Two international powerhouse performing divas of The Chicago Blues Mamas -- Nellie Tiger Travis and Holle Thee Maxwell -- will be storming New York City to showcase the best of the blues at The Association of Performing Arts Presenters Conference (APAP), January 11 – 15 at the New York Hilton, 1335 Avenue of the Americas. ‘Chicago Blues Mamas Red Hot’ musical retrospective will salute the great women of the Blues then and now with a selection of songs from musical icons Billie Holiday and Koko Taylor, bringing to the forefront their journeys and contributions to the music that evolved into Rock 'n Roll, Soul and R&B.  A presentation of Orman Music Group and LJet Productions, who are exporting with love Maxwell and Travis from the Windy City to New York City.

Tying into the APAC activities and the NY Winter Jazz Festival, these red hot blues legends will also be performing at venues around the Big Apple from Greenwich Village to Harlem. Maxwell and Travis are part of an initiative founded by Orman Music Group in association with LJet Productions called The Chicago Blues Mamas: a collective of Blues Royalty and Divas which include Deitra Farr, Shirley King, Sharon Lewis, Shirley Johnson, Katherine Davis, Nellie Tiger Travis, Liz Mandeville, Ellen Miller, Peaches Staten and Holle Thee Maxwell. These divas collectively and individually are role models for women, standing up for women’s issues and rights, as well as mentors to young musicians and music professionals.

WHO:  Chicago Blues Mamas’ Nellie Tiger Travis – mentored by and friend of the "queen of the blues" the beloved late Koko TaylorandHolle Thee Maxwell – dubbed the “queen of entertaining entertainers’ by the Cannes Musical Festival, France. An Orman Music Group and LJet Productions presentation.

WHAT: Two of The Chicago’s Blues Mamas -- international powerhouse queens of the blues and entertainers -- Nellie Tiger Travis and Holle Thee Maxwell will perform at the Association of Performing Arts Presenters Conference (APAP 2013) showcasing the best of the blues plus a selection of songs from musical icons Billie Holiday and Koko Taylor on Sunday, January 13 at The New York Hilton, 1335 Avenue of the Americas for sets at 7:00, 7:45 and 10:30 pm backed up by Michael Packer's Blues Band. APAP Showcase Booth 112, Level 2, Morgan Suite.  Attendees, spectators and patrons will be treated to a powerful musical retrospective of the great women of the blues then and now bringing to the forefront their journeys and contributions to the music that evolved into Rock 'n Roll, Soul and R&B.

*Both Divas have a relationship with Paris (not the one in Harlem, but the one in France!) Holle spent many years at her own club, Maxwell's Café' in Paris and toured through La Ville-Lumiere (the City of Light) with Jazz impresario Jimmy Smith and R & B Legend Ike Turner. Nellie has a large fan base in Paris and recently returned from a private performance, which she does annually for The L’Oreal cosmetics company.

Background: Blues Legends’ Holle Thee Maxwell and Nellie Tiger Travis are part of an initiative founded by Lynn Orman Weiss of Orman Music Group in association with Fran Allen Leake of LJet Productions called The Chicago Blues Mamas: a collective of Blues Royalty and Divas which include Deitra Farr, Shirley King, Sharon Lewis, Shirley Johnson, Katherine Davis, Nellie Tiger Travis, Liz Mandeville, Ellen Miller, Peaches Staten and Holle Thee Maxwell. These divas collectively and individually are role models for women, standing up for women’s issues and rights, as well as mentors to young musicians and music professionals.  On election night 2012, as the nation re-elected President Obama, The Chicago Blues Mamas for Obama stormed the stage at one of the darling boutique theaters on Chicago's north side -The Mayne Stage - and packed the sold-out house to the rafters. WGN television, The Huffington Post, Chicago Music Magazine and Star Planet Television chose Chicago Blues Mamas for Obama as the must see concert in Chicago on election night.
